We went to the Castle Valley Pageant last night. It was awesome! A couple of my nephews and one niece were in it. The boys had a lot of fun running around in the dust with their cousins and learning cool pioneer stuff. I would highly recommend it if you haven't been! It is just this week and next. So I didn't get much sleep, but what I did get was great. Only woke up once or twice with the baby. Started the run later than usual, so it was warm, but felt good. A couple miles up the canyon I saw a little old lady hitting her water bottle on a rock, so I stopped to check on her. She was trying to break up the ice in her bottle -- she didn't have any water left. She didn't seem very coherent, but she did let me take her bottle and squirt some Gatorade into it. As soon as my iPhone would work I called police dispatch to see if they could check on her. She had a crack on the side of her mouth and she was heading up the canyon where there was no potable water. I was relieved to see an officer drive by just a few minutes later. Whew. A pretty little deer with big ears also let me take a few pictures of her. So many reasons to love long runs! Pace wasn't lickity split, but I did work on it, parts averaging in the 11:00 range again. |
